Background

While climbing a mountain range in Argentina, Michelle came to the realization that she needed further balance and focus to become the versatile athlete she’d long wanted to become. Having grown up as a competitive tennis player and playing collegiately, she’s long been passionate about athletics and fitness, continuing to feed that passion by escaping into the mountains and nature to hike and backpack. Yet she realized she wanted more than just that beautiful escape.
Drawn to more than just the balance and strength obtained from practicing Asanas (poses), Michelle began studying the other seven limbs of yoga. It became a way to bring the peace she finds in nature to her everyday life; unifying her physical nature and personality around a core that is balanced and unbounded.
Michelle has studied various styles of yoga including Hatha, Iyengar and Restorative Yoga. She is an RYT with Yoga Alliance and teaches energetic classes focused around breathing, alignment and fluid movement. Michelle’s classes focus on practicing acceptance and gratitude in the studio, while bringing the benefits of yoga into all aspects of your life and athletic endeavors.

Why I Teach

To me, the best part about teaching is that the role of “teacher” is fluid. While I may be the one instructing poses and guiding in yoga, I am constantly learning from my students and through yoga we are helping each other be better, more compassionate humans. We’re on a journey together and I find that not a day goes by that I am not inspired by the strength and beauty of those that make yoga a part of their daily lives.

Why I Teach Yoga

Yoga is a lifelong journey – one that everyone can partake in and everyone can improve from. Yoga is more than a way to strengthen your body or become more flexible, it’s a way of life that provides a path for every chapter in our life. I love teaching yoga as I get to help students during this journey – the path of transformation through yoga is a beautiful and spiritual one and I am so grateful I get to be part of it.

My Teaching Style

I put an emphasis on alignment and breath – these are the building blocks of any strong yoga practice. Once your body feels the correct alignment and the benefits of purposeful breathing, the world of yoga opens up and becomes limitless. Our bodies are all different and the actual poses (asanas) of yoga will not be the same for each body hence my approach is placing specific emphasis on how to tailor poses to your body and ensure your physical longevity.

Fact. I'm obsessed with Maiden Lane Studios. Not in the creepy, restraining order type of way...but in the go 6-times a week type of way. I'll be honest, I never truly got the whole barre craze...until coming here. The classes are amazing (to the credit of the kick-ass instructors), and the studio is absolutely beautiful.

Maiden Lane Studios is the absolute best for Pilates and Barre Classes in San Francisco. I was introduced to the studio last year through lululemon and so glad I found my go-to place for an incredible strength training workout. It's like you're in someone's living room as the decor and feel of the place is so gorgeous and inviting.

I've tried other barre classes in the city and felt bored because they seemed the same, class after class. Not here. Every class challenges you and each instructor has something great to offer. I also LOVE that they offer more than just barre. Yoga, check. Pilates, check. It's a dream studio come true.

Wow. I'm *STILL* feeling pumped 4 hours after my frist Booty Barre class this morning! This studio is fantastic and booty barre is seriously fun. I'd definitely recommend taking the 8:30am class with Naimah. She's an awesome teacher and totally kept me motivated throughout the class (even when it was kicking my ass). Excited to make visits here a regular part of my workout week!
