My secret weapon for fighting off the common cold during chilly winter months is an elixir I’ve developed over the past couple of years. The blend of natural ingredients is high in antioxidants and antibacterial agents that make for a power-packed punch to help boost the immune system and keep those dreaded colds at bay.
- Echinacea Tea
Healing Properties: Echinacea helps to stimulate the immune system, and is also considered a natural antibiotic that helps to prevent colds, flu and fever.
- Spoonful of Raw, Local Honey
Healing Properties: Raw honey is also a natural antibiotic that can help instantly kill internal microbes.
- Small Cube of Fresh Ginger
Healing Properties: Consuming ginger helps to improve the absorption of essential nutrients into the body, and can also help to clear up sinuses and aid in digestion.
- Juice of 1 Lemon
Healing Properties: Lemons are rich in flavonoids and vitamin C that help fight against infection.
- Dash of Cinnamon
Healing Properties: Cinnamon is loaded with both antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, which help to fight infection and repair tissue.
- Small Cube of Fresh Turmeric
Healing Properties: Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory, which helps the body fight off bacteria and repair tissue damage.
- 5 Drops of Oregano Oil
Healing Properties: Oregano oil is the secret weapon to this blend. It is extremely potent and has been proven to be a powerful tool in fighting off infection and protecting the body against harmful organisms. It also helps to pump-up the immune system.
Either blend all items together in a high-powered blender (Vitamix) or let them steep for 15 minutes in a teapot. The oregano oil is extremely potent and can cause a tingly sensation on your lips. Only take small shots at a time, a few hours apart, and make sure all of the ingredients are mixed together well.
